In ultra-precision machining, the two basic accuracy of a single
crystal diamond tool are the precision of the cutting edge profile
and the blunt circle radius of the cutting edge. The roundness of
the cutting edge of the arc tool used for processing aspherical
lenses is below 0.05μm, and the straightness of the cutting edge
used for processing polyhedral mirrors is 0.02μm. The blunt radius
of the cutting edge of the tool (ρ value) indicates the sharpness
of the cutting edge of the tool. In order to adapt to various
processing requirements, the radius of the cutting edge of the tool
ranges from 20nm to 1μm.
Single crystal tool performance advantages:
(1) The single crystal diamond tool has a very high hardness
(10000HV), so as to obtain good wear resistance;
(2) The cutting edge of the single crystal diamond tool can be
sharpened very sharp, and the cutting should not stick to the knife
and produce chip accumulation, and ultra-thin cutting and
ultra-precision machining can be carried out;
(3) Low friction coefficient, small deformation during processing,
can reduce the cutting force;
(4) The cutting edge is observed under 800 times microscope without
defects, the surface roughness of non-ferrous metals can reach
Rz0.1~0.05um, and the shape accuracy of the machined workpiece is
controlled below 50nm;
(5) The use of selected single crystal diamond tool particles, good
consistency, service life is 100 times or even hundreds of times
that of cemented carbide tools.
